I met Michael in Hamburg by accident. Two strangers who happened to be sitting in the same light for a while.
Then we started talking, and the talk went somewhere most conversations don't get to. Philosophy, the quiet things, the questions you usually carry around on your own. Hours went past and felt like minutes.
Some people you meet by accident and they are gone again by the next morning. Others sit down opposite you once and then stay somehow, in the way you think and the way you make your peace with things. Michael is the second sort, and I have not stopped thinking about that afternoon since.
You can see it in his face before he says anything. He has made his peace, and he is not in a hurry about anything any more.
